High blood pressure is a silent killer
Under physiological action, impure blood first goes from a part of the heart to the lungs, from where it comes back to the heart after being purified. The heart pumps that blood and sends the rest of the blood to the body. The action of pumping blood by the heart is maintained with a proper pressure so that it can return back to the heart, the pressure exerted on the walls of the arteries in this whole process is called blood pressure.
In general, the disease of high blood pressure i.e. hypertension can gradually push a person towards death. High blood pressure is related to arteries called ‘arterioles’. These arteries work to regulate the blood flow in the body. When these arteries become dilated, the human heart works harder to pump blood and this is where the problem of blood pressure begins.
Usually this pressure is 120, which is called ‘systolic’ blood pressure. The half-second time the heart has between pumping twice, is the time it takes to rest. During this time the pressure on the arteries drops to about 80. This lower pressure is called ‘diastolic’ pressure.
The disease of blood pressure is also more fatal because its symptoms are not easily visible but later it starts manifesting with many symptoms. Such as dizziness, headache, trouble sleeping and shortness of breath etc.
High blood pressure is divided into four stages
Stage-1 (Pre-hypertension): In this stage, the blood pressure of the person is between 120/80 to 139/89.
Stage-2 (Mild Hypertension): In this stage the person’s blood pressure is between 140/90 to 159/99.
Stage-3 (Moderate Hypertension): In this stage the person’s blood pressure is between 160/110 to 179/109.
Stage-4 (Severe Hypertension): In this stage the person’s blood pressure is 180/110 or more.
Common symptoms of high blood pressure
You can understand the disease of ‘hypertension’ by looking at some special symptoms seen in the body. You need to be careful even when there are complaints like sudden blurred vision, headache, chest pain, shortness of breath, red spots on the skin, sudden swelling of legs, vomiting or nausea, anxiety.
Major cause of high blood pressure
The main cause of high blood pressure is irregular life and diet. Cholesterol sticks on the walls of the arteries due to lack of moderation in food, due to which the arteries start narrowing. Due to which the load on the heart to pump blood increases. Apart from this, smoking, obesity, excessive consumption of salt and alcohol, stress, genetics are the main reasons for its increase.
Treatment of high blood pressure
High blood pressure can be controlled through healthy diet, right lifestyle and medicines. Apart from this, pressure can also be reduced by reducing salt, sugar, fat, alcohol, cigarette smoking, consumption of illegal drugs, caffeinated drinks. Activities for people with high blood pressure that can increase heart and breathing rates such as playing a tennis ball, playing basketball, jogging, cycling, swimming and dancing.
Advice: To overcome both high blood pressure and obesity, people should do any type of physical activity for at least 30 to 45 minutes.
